Fly fishing in commercials

Postby RatFaceMcD » February 19th, 2011, 12:11 pm

Would it be too much to ask that when they want to feature somebody fly fishing in a commercial, that they find somebody that can actually cast a fly? Just sayin'.
I have a retirement plan - I plan on going fishing.

I've noticed that more commercials that deal with the outdoors have a fly fisherman in them. Interesting.

ditto on the casting. How hard is it to find a handsome man who can cast. I can name at least 50 that I know of just from this forum. The rest of you ... well!!!!

I find the presumption of this thread hard to believe. I'm sure that Sports Illustrated performed a complete journalistic investigation to find the best model for their fly fishing centerfold who first knows how to cast, and only secondarily might, possibly, maybe, also be good looking. It's all about the sports-oriented mission of the magazine first though. I'm sure Bruna Schmitz is a pro (ahem).

Yeah, those commercials always bother me.. they seem to hire the actor or actress who is the most spaztic at their lame attempts at fly casting....

They seem to put the effort into finding actors or actresses who can actually swing a Golf Club correctly. is it too much to ask the same treatment when they wanna pimp flyfishing to sell something????? :x ;) :?

Since when? Our friend Bob who takes Extenz has the worst swing ever...... And I'm not talking how he dangles the diggler either.

Speaking of horrible and misleading I don't know if you guys had seen a commercial that aired for Nat Geos season 2 of "hooked" it has some dude on a little wooden pier fly casting treble hook with conventional gear it was hilarious and kinda like a bad nightmare at the same time. :|
