Now if I can get Dean and You to sit at the table we'd be more than over joyed. And Dean.... Finally I get to see you in 2011. Can't wait. Hope you'll be there on Sunday.

Good Morning,
I have just agreed to help the Spot's booth for Saturday AM. I look forward to meeting anyone and everyone who pops by. Should be fun!

I'd love to go, but will be down in Escondido coaching rugby in what will most likely be a driving rain storm.

Just got back from the show. Much improved over last year. I actually would have spent more time there but my friend wasn't interested in spending 1/2 hour on each booth offering fly tying materials. Imagine that! Got to see Andre again as well as meet Bernard and MEB. Didn't get a chance to meet Dean; we were on our way out and he was busy at the time. I have to say, if it's this good I will definitely try to go next year.

I also enjoyed the show and met Lee and Tomsakai. Lee ties some great looking salt water flies and had a crowd around him at all times. I watched Mas Okui tie for awhile. He's a great guy and a wealth of knowledge. I was going to introduce myself to Dean and Bernard, but they always seemed incredibly busy. I stopped by and talked to Keith Kern who was at the CA Flyfishing magazine booth, fishes Big Bear Lake and the local streams, and is someone I've crossed paths with for a long time.

The best part for me was watching Simon Gawesworth at a casting demonstration. I've become interested in spey casting lately and want to learn and watching him was a good start.

I do most of my fishing in CA so a lot of the booths don't hold much interest.

I'm glad I went.

I also agree that this years edition was very much improved over the last couple of years. As I told Tom I was in the simms booth most of the time talking with my good friends Brad Mcfall and John Sherman. Did get to meet Bernard and saw a few other friends. Glad I went also.

The show was EXCELLENT for me. I met some addicts, and was able to show my net making process at the FF of OC club booth. I got wonderful responses and several prospective orders. The best part was meeting all of the great folks walking and working the show. Simply down to earth great peeps. I'll b there tomorrow too.

Sorry we missed it but Sherry wouldn't have been able to stay long. We barely were able to spend an hour sitting in church today. :( Next year for sure.

Here is what I missed at the show: TFO, Echo, Rise, I'd like to see W&G there.
Not enough:
vendors selling fly tying materials at a true discount. The ones who were there didn't have enough product. However, finally met Mr. Steve Korbay from fly Tying Specialties!!! Who I've been purchasing from for years. Not enough exotic fly fishing destination booths the one year I really needed it.

Great stuff: Excellent casting demo's, lots of good rods to try out, many new products to see, Casting for Recovery will be opening a chapter in Los Angeles, got to see Dean and Lee B, fish991 and his nets, FRVC, UT, FFF, SWFFF.

And one really fanantasticio!! Mayfly design from Naomi! Finally a fly that is artist, delicate visually, captures the lightness of the insect and floats well. You missed a beauty.

I liked the show but it didn't have the 'umph', the energy I was expecting.

Greg, I don't think we met but I checked it all out and found it fascinating. Seeing the work-in-progress was really great which is what a lot of the show was great for(referring to the tying). Tom, Luc and a few others. I really appreciated you gents introducing yourselves. Meb, I was never THAT busy. It's all about perceptions ;) Hmmm what else, Lee's tying, Naomi's tying ... heck everyone's tying. Jay's deer hair inspiration. Dean, good to see you. It's been some time. There were many people and things I missed out on. Materials definitely being one of them. There was one booth whose name I forget where they had some unusually nice hen skins. Dyed well and with slightly longer feathers. I eventually laid on the floor to get some rest in the back of the presentation room as Conway discussed Makos off of SD. Pretty nutty. Got your 18 weight? Yow! What about them thar trailers in the back? Ladies on the Fly? So cool! I had way more fun than anticipated.

I'm glad that I went. I've been into this a couple of years and wanted to go but we're always gone the weekend of the show.

I heard some negatives about previous shows so I was hesitant.

I walked the vendor booths, enjoyed looking at all of the different products. Talked to some of the people from TU, FFF and the Fishery Volunteer group. Took in the seminar on reading water from Maggie Merriman (what a neat lady!), learned a few things! Spent some time watching all of the talented people tying. I was impressed with Naomi, her technique shows a style that is more like art than anything I've seen before. I watched the casting demonstration by Gary Borger and picked up a few things, maybe I can reduce that number of "wind knots" ;) by applying what I saw.

Only bad thing is that I had to be back home at 2:00, next year I plan to spend the whole day at the show.

crap, I went to the show for 3-4 years in a row and there were less and less vendors/booths each time.
After last year's show I figured I'd save my $15 and buy some more tying material or something. I guess I should have gone this year.

I enjoyed it, though it was disappointing compared to the ones I've been to in Denver, but that's to be expected considering the market. It was good to meet some new people and see some faces I hadn't in a while. Lee's presentation was great, I really enjoyed it. I would have liked to see more discount matterials as well. But I did walk out with 2 new fly boxes, a subscription to American Angler and some materials, so it wasn't a loss. Walking back to off site parking in the pouring rain was not fun!
