Is there any other rod I should go cast?

For topics that don't seem to have a home elsewhere.

The GLX Crosscurrent is a good rod and I like it way better than the NRX. I'm a Winston guy for the most part though.

I'll see if there are any up here that I can check out.

I saw this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/Sage-SLT-796-4-Fly- ... 4213792958

Now I love the lighter line weight in this series of rod. Anybody ever though the heavy stuff in this series?

I've cast a 5 & 6wt SLT, but nothing heavier. I thought both were very nice, but a little softer than what I was looking for. If you like "medium fast", it should fit the bill. Personally, I have 2 Sage XP 796-4. They are my steelhead rods, and I am happy enough with them, that I don't plan on buying anything new. If you know me, that's saying a lot. ;)

......but one rod that intrigues me is the Scott S4.

If you get a chance, American Angler has an article on "Nymph Rods", in their latest issue. There are several rods in the 10' range.

Just an update...... After casting several different rods I had it narrowed down to a few. Then I was talking with the owner of a local fly shop. He mentioned a promotion for a free reel that was coming up. He said he would be willing to do the promotion early. Now this rod was already in my top three; so today I ordered the 10' 7WT Helios :bananadance:
