Now are these the special brownies that I bet you could only eat just one? I just might have to drive 600+ miles to get one of those.

Mark,
If you bring your SLT again, I will definitely try to make it! :D

The event was such a blast last year. Everyone brought some nice rods and we had a great time casting, eating and tying...For all of you who would LOVE to try casting different rods, you will go GAGA and walk away with a new wish list...

Mark and Larry are such gracious host and teachers, you will definitely come away with some new insight on fixing some of those hitches in your cast...

The best part is getting together and having a great time together...

Mark,
Glad you can make it again. I'll bring the SLT, and I have a few other rods you will want to try also. This year will be even better than last, more people, food, beer, prizes and a casting course that will challenge your skills. ;)

Fellow Addicts,

Here are the directions to Dana Point Harbor.

From 5 south, exit Hwy 1 and turn right.
Turn left on Harbor Drive (Right is Del Obispo) Just Past Carl's Jr.
Take harbor drive ¾ of a mile, turn left in the parking lot just past Island Way ( I will have on the right hand side of the road a sign that says CASTING GAMES) make a quick right, look for the 3 covered picnic tables on your right. If you hit the old fishing pier or the Marine Institute parking lot, you have going too far.

From 5 north, exit Hwy 1 Beach cities and go North on HWY 1.

For those that weren't there last year, this will be a must attend. Lots of fun and good food. Incredibly talented certified casting instructors (One a Master Instructor) who will help you nail the fly cast and the inventive fly casting games that will test you mettle. Plus, there will be a plethora of rods for you to try out. No matter what your flavor....from fiberglass to bamboo; there will be something that will catch your fancy. Mark and crew have a full day of fun in the sun planned. The setting is a pocket park at beautiful Dana Point Harbor and you'll be casting in the trees and the grass.

Mark your calendars and we'll see you there.

Here is a video of last year's casting event made up from some photos I gathered up. It's great fun and this year, they have a stellar program planned plus the bonus of good food and great company.

This is coming up real quick. We are doing pot luck for lunch and dinner. If we each bring enough for 8 to 10 guests we should have more than enough food. Larry and I are going to bring some chicken for the BBQ and cowboy beans. We need plates, silverware, and napkins, for lunch and dinner, stuff for lunch (breads and lunch meats, chips, cheese and condiments). BBQ dinner, other meats for BBQ? Maybe rice or potato salad, green salad, corn. Briquettes for grill. We could bring our own adult beverage if that is what you want to do. Or somebody could bring that also. If you have some kind of specialty dish you would like to bring, that would be great. Also don't forget to bring a folding chair and a sweetshirt or jacket.

I have 4 casting instructors and 1 master casting instructor coming to this event. You will have plenty of opportunity to get some hands-on instruction to improve your casting or learn some new techniques. Looks like we have a good group of people attending this event. Any other Addicts want to join in the festivities?

So here is the list of attendees so far, with what they want to bring!

Bill, beachbum
Eric, dutch oven Chile
Tom Sakai, veggies
Arial, fflutterffly & Karen, Brownies
Blu, thtsarumr, chicken salad
Jim, Wildman
Super dry fly,
Bob, flybob, smoked salmon
Jazz on the fly, Andre, bread and lunch meats
Rick & Sherry, Hopefully
Fishinsteve
Fish-on-bro, hopefully
Fishfreak911, sodas
Andy, Dubl Haul
Larry, LDR
Me, fly addict
David, tyingfool
Mark, 1morcast, potato salad
Rob Kidd
Mitchell, hpskiff, Plates and silverware, napkins

Count me in too! I'll bring enough plates, napkins and silverware for all.

Also if anybody wants to take a boat ride out towards the San Clemente Pier I can usually find a few Calico Bass in the kelp. The boat will hold 4-5 but only fish two at a time. You'll have to be flexible if the weather acts up. If interested, send me a message.

Also, if anyone is considering one of the "short" bass rods let me know as I have a small assortment and will be happy to bring them to try out. (Ross Flystick 6wt w/ 7wt line, Sage Bluegill and Smallmouth, and Reddington Predator 9wt.)
