Got a new toy, now I need to break it in

Postby Sasha » March 10th, 2011, 6:00 pm

So I got the call today that my new toy was in. I headed over to the shop to pick it up. Now I just need to break it in :bananadance:

I see 10ft, what weight? I can definitely see a helios being nice in the upper weights. Very nice setup dude!

That is right it is a 10' 7wt. I got it for all those small creeks out here :bananadance: Hopefully I will get a chance to mess around with it this Sunday. It won't be for the desired species; however I dont think I want to leave the new toy at home  I am interested in seeing how that setup fishes. I am also really interested in how the reel performs. This is the first time I have gone with the Mirage.

Me like. :)

When you test the drag on that reel, let me know what you think. Been looking at the Mirage for a year now.

Well I will do a write up when I take it out. The plan is to go out next Sunday (can’t go today it’s my boys 5th Birthday).

What was funny is when I showed it to my wife she said: "Looks good except the gold reel". Then she said "Be careful you just might OG". I told her don't worry about the reel color with that orange backing I am guaranteed to catch more fish. She replied "I thought blue was better". ;) ;) ;)

On a different note..... The paperwork inside the tube reveled an interesting little fact. I guess we were wrong as it reads “The new Hydros is made from the same blank as our Helios". The interesting thing was the Hydros felt completely different to me. I'm not saying that it is a bad rod at all. I just liked the feel and looks of the Helios enough to shell out the extra scratch.
