the various Bass Species....

For topics that don't seem to have a home elsewhere.

the various Bass Species....

Postby Flyjunkie » April 13th, 2011, 7:23 pm

I'd guess most folks on this Board, if asked, would only know 3 species of Black Bass.. But in truth there are 7 recognized species and sub-species.... Here's a Thread on another board with great photos of all the species and sub-species..:

http://www.americanriverfishing.com/mis ... &highlight

To date I've caught 4 of them.. (it's great having a bunch of relatives in east central Alabama, who love fishing)..

Thought Folks would find this interesting....except for the Trout Pussies..

More Species for your respected Life Lists...

Personally I'm more of a trout guy :booty: :booty: :booty: :booty: However that is a pretty interesting read, differentiating between species is always kinda a neat topic.

Thanks. That was an interesting read. I've caught Florida and Northern largemouth, Smallmouth, and "Spots". I've always wanted to float one of the Texas Hill Country rivers for Gaudalupe Bass. They are beautiful, emerald green rivers, that look like trout streams, but they have bass(3 species).

$!@%, I am just glad to be back to feeling like normal....... Warning kids: It is not a good idea to try to go fishing in the cold (just snowed the day before) with heavy (20-30) winds when you are sick. You end up leaving early and getting pneumonia......

Totally agree, I've been a sober fisherman since I started drinking due to fly fishing. Only exception is my annual trip with my Dad to Oregon.

I hear you Mike... Haven't had a beer or anything with alcohol in over 9 months... feels Good..
thought we'll see how that works as I drive past the Indian Wells Brewery when I head north... love that Mojave Gold.... O.K. to drink after flyfishing, not while attempting to cast and fish... ;)
