Headed north

Postby BobK » April 20th, 2011, 5:47 am

So I wake up this morning, feed the dogs, (3 Labs) and take out the trash. Beginning of a normal day, right?
Then a lone Honker flies over the house. I swear that he looked right at me! He's headed north so what the heck, I'll follow him. Loaded the fly rod, my sleeping bag and some munchies just in case he goes a ways, and I'm off. Maybe he has relatives on Pyramid lake. See you later. Oh, I'd better write my wife a note....BobK

Don't waste any time - get out and follow that goose! The wife will understand and won't mind a bit.

This sounds like the beginning of a great quest.

A note would be nice. Good luck up there.

Note would be nice, but cash will probably keep her from changing the locks.

Now that's awesome. In 35 years of storytelling to the wife I never thought of that one. I admire the audacity and understated courage of your actions. A word to the wise though if you come home after midnight you better be sober, carrying some awesome fish pictures and be with the goose. Otherwise your's may be cooked.
Good luck and Gods speed.

Never found the goose, I'm still married, a little wind-blown and wet, the dogs still know me and the Cuts were willing, at least for a while. Got to the S. nets at Pyramid and had a real tough time with the wind. Being left handed with a very strong NE wind< I had a lot of practice with my backhand cast Managed only 4 with 1 at 7lbs Weds. Thursday you had to pull out your ladder each time you took a Pee break due to the 2+ft swells(Just a guess, I'm not a surfer) and the harder than Weds. wind. It remained slow most of the day, catching 7 stripping Buggers and then * broke loose after most of the people left around 5:30 In the remaining daylight I caught 23. It was typical Pyramid. Fish all day for an 1 1/2 hr bite(maybe) I fished this morning until 11:00, caught 5 and headed home. The East Walker looks really good. No snow around Bridgeport or the river. It did snow and rain from Bridgeport to Crowley. Crowley is real high and ice-free, so it should be good for the bait dunkers. I didn't take any pictures, but I'm just as pretty as I was in the last ones. Bob
