Hello

Postby el diablo » May 3rd, 2011, 3:14 pm

Hello - I recently moved to Bakersfield and have just in the last year taken up fly fishing, although I've been regular fishing nearly al;l my life. I just found this forum and am looking forward to learning and sharing with all of you. Hopefully, I'll have a chance to maek it to the get-togethers yall have.

Oh, and the nickname comes from the name of the first model airplane I built.

Thanks,

Francis

Welcome a board! I'm a slight airplane geek myself. Never got into the RC flying too far after I crashed my SloStik. Do you do static models or RC as well? My first model was an F-117.

You are well positioned in Bakersfield to access some great water. The western sierras are absolutely gorgeous and living in Bfield you've got a couple hours headstart, making it much more worth it to venture in.

Might I ask where you moved from? Looks PNW-y from your avatar...

I moved here from Phoenix. the picture in my avatar is my dad from a long time ago. i only have built RC planes, and only a couple at that - i'm better at crashing them than flying, but i'm working on it.

thanks for the welcome. i have heard that there are a lot of great places to fish around here, and i have been to some during visits here. i'm excited to live here now, though, so i can do a lot more exploring. not a lot of great trout places in phoenix - mostly just the salt and up north.

Welcome aboard. The nice thing about this forum is you'll have many opportunities to meet and greet other members. There's more kinship in this on-line community than in most brick and mortar clubs. Look forward to hearing some reports.

El Diablo....great name! I fly RC and have a bunch from Slow Sticks to wings to slope soaring planes. The learning curve is about the same for RC planes and fly fishing. Both are great fun.
Welcome :D

Welcome to the board.

I didn't know we had some many fliers here.
I do slope (dynamic) myself. 8-) jon

Wow! Jim and Jon, didn't know you guys flew! I've been meaning forever to get my Stick repaired (it's actually a Stevens Stick, same thing, just that you get to build this one out of balsa). Soaring is amazing to me and I would love to get into it, but fishing always takes precedence for time and $. I bought a stunt kite to get some sort of a flying fix. Much cheaper and less intense.

Sounds like a day of surf casting and soaring would be a fun day if you pick the right location.
