O.K. This Monster was not caught on a Fly, it was caught on a Jig...

it's a 5.55 lb. Redear Sunfish from Lake Havasu!!!! It's been documented for a Line Class World record...

I am overcome with this incredible desire to load up the truck and head to Havasu!!!! ;)

That's certainly a bigun'. Just imagine the fight one of those would put to a 3or 4 weight rod. :o

You'd have your hands full with that Monster on a 4wt... a 3wt. would probably explode... ;)

Just to show you, Big Redears in Havasu are not an occasional thing...

Image

This is a 4. lb. 11 oz. Redear caught June of last year. The Gent was using 12 lb. test and was happy he had it because this Redear plowed back into the brush a number of times...

I really need to plan a trip there Next year.. This is too good to not go!!!

Yeah i noticed that as well Sasha..and he's not all that Happy either, according to the source i got the first photo from, the Guy is a "Bass Pro" angler and those folks usually do not think much of catching Bluegill and Other Sunfish.. *?!?!?!!! I'd be jazzed as * nailing a Giant Sunfish like that...

Jon, Your "Fuzzy Streamers" would be a good choice to target these Huge Redears, as they tend to feed deeper then Bluegill do. sizes #8 & #10 in olive, rust & Black....

I know as a kid I caught sunfish over there that were big enough to keep so ones that big don't surprise me. That's still a huge panfish though!!
