Leader board browns

Postby BigBrownHunter » June 2nd, 2011, 2:29 pm

Guys I think we should get some sort of leader board for the EW this year. Biggest fish type thing. Must have pics to qualify. Ive seen this done on another forum that I frequent and it's pretty cool.

Thoughts?

Heres my entry for May!!

Wait is he gonna slay me because Im holding a fish outta water for a pic..I dont do it often but if I have a chance to snap a shot I will. Wet hands and the fish was only outta the water for less than 30 sec. It swam away fine..its not laying on the dirt or anything...This hog deserved to be photographed and released..Better than the jokers on Kens site holding trophy browns in front of the store!!!

Not what Curtis meant at all BBH.

Stanbery is known for big fish in general, and has caught some hawgs in the EW. I'm confident Curtis is saying Jon may have some competition for you.

And I don't think anyone will have a problem with your fish pic. I know I don't. Nice fish :)

Got it..I shouldn't have jumped on that...I sometime see posts about fish handleing and stuff and felt maybe we were headed down that road.. I appologize to all for jumping to conclusions..

So anyway any guesses on how much this beast weighs in? I didnt even measure it just put em back in the water ASAP..(I freak out when the fish is outta the water.) I actually got lucky that there were some kids that could help with a photo. I'm usually by myself and can only take pics with one hand...Definetly couoldn't take a one handed shot with this guy...Wayy too fat.. :)

Exactly! Stanbery will love knowing someone is getting a thread together specifically for the big bulls! Beautiful fish you got there!

Nice fish.

Just a photo tip. If you are by yourself and land a picture worthy fish, just keep it in the water, and "tail it" to control it. I do it all the time, and it's really not that hard to do. Just be aware, if the fish is still fresh, it may try and flop around. Grabbing a hold of their "handle"(wet hands of course), just above the tail, will help control it. Preaching to the choir here, but never lift a fish by it's tail. It can permanently injure a fish.....especially a large fish. The ol' grip and grin in the jaw or gill plate is obviously a no no too.

Using my precise fisherman's calculations, that fish is 12 lb 3 ounces. ;) ;)

Very hard to make a guess by just a picture. Almost always we think it weighs more that it actually does.......that's coming from experience. In the end, it doesn't matter as long as no money is involved. It's a NICE fish.

May is over, so how can we compete without even knowing about the competition until two days after the end of the month. :( ;) :P

Haha I know..Tough in a pick but this guy was heavy..I have a hard time with guessing size. The fight was a blast..Took over 15 min to land. seemed like hours..It was touch and go thought I was gonna loose him. I never had a big brown do as many arials as this guy...usually rainbows jump a ton and the brownies sit on the bottom..

My guess on this fish is somewhere around 4-6 pounds.
