Your Prettiest 4" Trout

Very pretty California Golden.

My best 4" trout came a few years ago up high in Grand Teton/Jackson Hole area. I was dry fly fishing with my lovely little Sage 00wt since I was expecting to catch 4" trout and was pleasantly suprised when I caught this guy instead:

Shane, that is just plane sick, and not in a good way, How Dare you go and Target fish with underweight rods, just to play them until they are lifeless!

Nice work!

But it is not pretty! :D

For some reason, I always liked the pic of this little guy....

A fine example of Oncorhynchus mykiss gairdneri that inhabit small out of the way desert creeks.

DrCreek wrote:In light of all the BS going on about 4" trout, I thought it might be fun for everyone to throw in a pic or two of the prettiest little trouts they've ever caught. It's funny... I've always fly fished with one thing in mind - find the prettiest trout around, little or not. I've never cared what their size was. And now that ultralights/featherlights are in the mix, they're just that much more fun to chase.

So here's to those cute little four inch'ers and the folks that will unfortunately never "get it."

Pretty little (okay... five inch'er) caught from the unnamed stream that lives at the top of "Z" Road. I'd never seen a golden with this much stripe pigmentation before.

Doc,
I remember being there when you caught that little beauty......great times and great memories.....one day I'll be back to fish that unnamed stream.

Not exactly a trout, but it fits the size range. This little guy saved me from being skunked on saturday.

Bill,
Randy caught 2 6" cabrillas in the surf just down from our lodge. 8-) They were beautiful but didn't take camera, too bad 'cause they had many colors. All these 4" fish are beauts. 209er

"Look ma, no hands". Out of respect for our endangered local natives, I no longer actually fish for them. I just take pictures.
