hydrostop: has anyone used it?

Has anyone used this stuff from Loon called Hydrostop? http://www.loonoutdoors.com/hydrostop.html

According to the marketing,

Hydrostop permanently treats new flies with a floatant. Coming in a conveniently large container hundreds of flies can be treated, dozens at a time. Flies allowed to soak for 5 minutes and then dried overnight will float higher when they are used. Perfect for yarn-type indicators as well as pre-treating dubbing.

FEATURES:
- Permanent waterproofing treatment for flies
- Large mouth container to treat dozens of flies at a time
- Great for waterproofing indicators, dubbing, etc

I've been tying up a bunch of dry flies lately and was really tempted to buy this when I came across it (while purchasing the Loon shark's tooth which worked great). However, I thought I would ask if anyone here had used it and had any opinions pro or con.

I've used it on flies before they ever got wet and it seemed to help. I don't think it lives up to the advertisement but, couldn't hurt.

My experience is just like all the others. It works OK, but is not that good. I don't use it any more. I'm still looking for a cheap and permanent solution and have not found one yet. The best pre-treatment I've found so far is Scotchgard. Fairly cheap and works about as well as all the rest.

And i've got a bridge to sell......... ;)

My experience with Hydrostop, and a couple other similar products is that it works ok. I've treated a lot of flies with the stuff. When the flies are fresh, they do seem to ride high, longer than a non treated fly. Maybe 30% longer? Once wet, it's game over, and you need to break out the powdered stuff.

Now, I skip the pretreatment stuff altogether. I either grease them up with a gel after I tie them on, or use the powdered silica stuff.
