Stanberry's buddy's Net-Update

Postby Fishfreak911 » October 3rd, 2011, 9:36 pm

Well, this has been a rather challenging build, per the usual, but I am happy with the net after a few coats of oil. The handle is Bird's Eye Maple with a wenge center for accent and strength. The hoop is curly maple on the inside, and out with walnut sandwiched in between. The Sierra Net name is inlaid brass.

The following pics show teh progression of the build.

Enjoy Jon! I will be done with her by this weekend.

Nice work there Greg, the more I see your beautiful custom nets the more I want one. I just might have to sell one of my camera lens to get one of your nets. Thanks for sharing the build.

Thanks gents!

I have about 7 nets in the works right now incl this one. (Mark your # 3 in line buddy, and thanks agin for intoducing me to Bobby. What a cool dude! Let me know when u r back in town)

Benny, 2 words for ya....E Bay. :P

Chuck, Wenge is a VERY splintery, but beautiful African wood. It is a nice mix of black and dark chocolate grain that turns pretty dark when oiled. I like it for it hardness (dent resistance) and its contrast to most every other wood.

Pete, I know, I know, I thought Jon was pulling my leg too!
