I have purchased flies from here several times, very happy with quality and prices. Went to the site for some items preceding Kern trip and it looks like they are maybe going out of business. Selection was severely depleted, maybe just end of season inventory adjustment, but odd.

I put in a call to see what's up. I LOVE Bluefly, especially their brass caddis emerger nymph. That thing is candy.

I've had great success with the "Fly Formally Known as Prince" in sizes 10 and 12.

No return call, though they did ship my order yesterday.

This would be bad news. Hopefully just switching suppliers, updating inventory system, or something like that.

For many places the last of Sept or Oct. is the end of there fiscal year and they may have depleted there stock for inventory and tax purposes.

Surprised so many like their flies :? I mostly tie my own but last year made an emergency order for an unexpected trip. Nearly every Adams had the eye glued over which led to lots of cussing on the stream. Then the H&L Variants floated like rocks. The quality of materials was less than worthy and they won't receive any future orders.

Interesting.

I found the quality good as well. A few have taken a beating and none have fallen apart yet.

I've also used flyshack.com, pretty comparable, I think the bf hooks seemed a bit stronger(?). But I'm no expert for sure.

Not that I buy [many] flies anymore but their website has been saying "down for maintenance, back in 15 minutes to an hour" for the last 3 weeks. Uh oh. Another good vendor gone?

I have had a bad experience with their flies also. The quality of the flies was very inconsistent in the pattern I had ordered. They were so bad that the flies did not look like the same type. I have never ordered from them ever again. A good online source that I buy from is “Riverbum” They cost more than the discount online retailers but the quality is much more consistent.

I have never ordered from Blue Fly, but have ordered from Riverbum a lot. Excellent quality flies. There is no reason for me to tie certain patterns, when I can buy them at Riverbum. BTW, I only tie out of need, not for pleasure. Another quality source is http://www.troutflies.com/
