KernVille and the river

Postby fflutterffly » October 25th, 2011, 5:41 pm

The flow is very nice and the river accessible. The fish willing and my pick of flies right on. Nothing larger than an 18 Ph tail and some other thing I fashioned up last night, under a stimi. Many little fish to hand, nothing over 14", but I loved them all. Water temp was 54, ambient about 75. Hit all pocket water, stayed off the still. Used my new Allen Rod (Korean rod) 310 with their 5/7 trout reel. For the money it all works well. If you go up the 178 out of the desert you might encounter single lane and stopping for about 15 min.

Nice. Man, I could use a quick Southern Sierra dose right about now.

Bill,
If you go to the Kern, You'll have more fishing time and less driving time. Plus we can make sure you get a good spot and a big potluck Mexican dinner with cold beer on Friday night! ;)

Wish I could, but I can't. You should go.

Bill,
I will be on the water Friday. Were staying at Camp James #74 in Kernville. Come by and have some breakfast in the morning it should be ready about 8 to 8:30. I think Rick is getting up there a little later in the day.

I have a doctors appt in the morning at 8:30 and we'll head up after that. We'll be there in the early afternoon, maybe late morning if we're lucky. Bill, you could stay the night in our site if you'd like. Eric won't be going and we can have two tents per site. You're more than welcome. Space 75 next to Mark.
