Flies for Casting for Recovery

Postby fflutterffly » November 8th, 2011, 8:07 am

Would anyone be interested in tying up flies for donation to Casting for Recovery Southern California. If so please let me know either directly to this post or a PM. If possible I'd like you to either give yourself credit with full information included or give this website the credit. The flies will be used at the retreat in 2012 or auctioned off in order to absorb the cost for the participants. All staff are volunteers. This includes medical staff, organizers, coordinators and stream side guides, instructors and assistants.

As I did last time, if you don't want to tie, any flies you'd like to purchase from theflystop.com and designate to be sent to me, Kory, the owner, will donate additional flies at his expense. We'd have to coordinate this through a PM to me.

Thank you all for checking out this post. Best to all.

Ariel,

Any particular types or sizes? Where will the retreat be held? That might make a difference as to what fly options we chose.

The target date is Oct 14 2012 for the first SoCal outing.

Site TBD... Although I have a good idea ;)

Shane what outing are you speaking of? The location for casting for recovery has not been determined, but I have two places in mind which I've visited, both in the eastern Sierra. The retreat will possibly be held in September once the tourist season ends and pricing comes down. We are looking at Convict lake Resort and Double Eagle in June Lake. We still have to get bids from both. If you have any suggestions of a location I'm open. They must be able to feed the group and have a place for conferences, of course be near a fishable stream with little snag factor.

With the date tentative for September we'll be looking at BWO, callibaetis, scuds and caddis... for the most part. Maybe sizes 18 and down. Could be some 14.

Me too!
I fish for my sanity. If I catch it, should I still practice catch and release?

Ariel,
When do you need the prints? I'll be out of town for the next few days, but home after Nov. 13th.

Last Wednesday CR had two reps, Sally and Margerite(?) do a presentation to our club and they told us the date for the new SoCal chapter's first outing was the weekend of Oct, 14 2012. They are asking each FFF club in the SoCal region to sponsor one woman. Maybe my big floppy ears heard heard wrong since they are getting hairy in my old age

The CR has a meeting this coming week. Maybe they will let us know as well ololol. It doesn't matter to me just as long as we succeed!
