Has anyone tried the Triangular fly line design? What do you think?

Do you mean Wulff's Triangle Taper, or a fly line with a triangular shape? If you mean the Wulff line, I had one and didn't care for it much. Nothing wrong with it. It just didn't "feel" right to me. I do read lots of positive reviews about them. I am thinking of trying one of their new, Ambush lines.

For indicator nymphing, Wulff's Triangle Taper line is one of the best out there. That sucker roll casts and mends like a dream. The only thing I don't like about them is the line has a "soft" coating and they are not very durable.

I have one that I use on my Winston WT 8’6” 5wt. I have been happy with the way it loads up the rod in close and out to 45’. It mends very well as long as you don’t get beyond the forward taper. It also roll casts very well and I was surprised how well it shoots out to 75’ double hauling. Not that I recommend you cast a 5wt that far. It comes in a two tone version, with the color change at the running line. It has been around a long time and is a favorite on the Winston forum. I have an older version (5 years) and is still going strong.

I used them for steelheading while living in the PACNW. Great line for mending and roll casting big patterns. Not so great in the wind though!
