Normally do it in 10s - 12s but could do 14s, sounds like I have some competition for crappy tier award.

Try tying it in a 14.

Noob question... should I leave the barbs intact or pinched?
(I've never participated in a swap/contest.)

Just leave the barbs intact, whom ever wins the fly box could decide whether they want them barbed or de-barbed.

Still using the dries I swapped with Stewmon several years ago. He is one of the best fly tiers I have ever seen. His little bugs are works of art and they catch fish too.
