Fishing after the rains

Postby Fishfreak911 » March 26th, 2012, 1:43 pm

Helloooo. Does anyone know if it would be worth while to even attempt to fish Monkey creek tomorrow 3-27, being it so soon after such a gnarlyt storm yesterday? Appreciate the help.

Greg, not to be a stick in the mud, but usually you want to let things settle down for a few days.
The water will be cold, murky and fast in most creeks and the fish will be hunkered down, as typically happens any time you have a barometric change. That is unless you are fishing a tailwater way up, with a nice paved road alongside, that place usually does not follow the rules!

Greg: The road might be a bit knarly but I can tell you that I have never not done good there rain or shine. 90% of the time I just use a dry (sometimes with a dropper) and ussually quit after I get my 20, doesn't really matter if the water is murky you just need to fish the edges next to the bank instead of the seams. The water might be a little cold but I'm sure if you can get there you should be able to get a few. Dude you better be not intending to be going there on Thursday cause I'm going to your place to get my net!

We got a helluva soak before the snow came down, and then another 12-14" of the white stuff. Now, it's warm up here and things are melting quick. Could make for tough conditions.

I think you should go and finish my net. In all honesty that stretch of stream would be your best bet if you looking for moving water. It's just getting there might be a challenge. If you really want to fish another stream pm me and I'll get you directions and how I think some other streams should do.

Luc, your net is done baby! :bananadance: The last coat of finish went on it today. I will tie on the net and lanyard tomorrow after buffing it. The thing has some mad curl in the handle! I thgink I will just stick with the initial plan, thanks.

J, the plan is to head up around 8 from the O.C. That should put me up a creek by 9:30 after getting dressed and all.

I would love to fish w/u. What time could you be there by?

Thug alley got a new gate last week. Hopefully it's not all tagged up by the time you get there...
