Fishcat 4 Air bladder has a leak!

Postby Benny » April 5th, 2012, 12:04 pm

I need some help in patching this up. I don't have the original patch kit have no clue where it went. I removed the bladder from the Fishcat 4, now all I need is a patch kit that will seal the small hole. The hole is not on the seams, so that's should be an easy patch, if it's at all possible to patch. Anyone know where I could get a patch for this ASAP?

Thanks
Benny

I like the material that comes in the Outcast kit, but I think any vinyl/plastic/outdoor/air mattress/universal patch kit will work. Places like WalMart, to the local sporting goods store, and fly shop should have _something_. Regardless of what patch material you use, I would use Aquaseal as the adhesive. I have yet to have Aquaseal fail on any of my float tube/pontoon repairs. Just make sure both surfaces are clean.

Ended up going over to the Fisherman's Spot in Van Nuys after calling and talking with staff member David. He checked to see if they had the product and indeed they did. Just finished the patch work and it looks pretty solid. Thanks for tips and links Brian.

For anyone that needs to do a simple puncture repair on one of their float tube bladders the product I picked up at the Spot is called Tear Aid (Type A) it was nine dollars and change.

Just FYI, I know on this occasion you needed a quick fix, but a couple years ago I sent my bladder into Fishcat because I could not locate a slow leak. They said they would fix/patch the problem and send it back to me. When I got it back in the mail, they actually sent me a brand new bladder and valve at no cost, just shipping.
Have a good one tomorrow, don't forget the pic's.

That Tear Aid which came with my Fish Kat pontoon is good stuff. On her maiden voyage she sprung a slow leak when I accidentally burned her with my cigarette. I had to patch the outer PVC shell as well. I had no problem finding the leak.
Benny, might be up there tomorrow if the wind is minimal...

I did the same thing, they also sent me a brand new bladder... They are good with that. I think it also has a bit to do with liability and that it may be better to send a for sure thing back to the customer instead of missing a hole and it deflating on the water.
Either way, I was happy with the way they handled it!
