Lost and Found Fly Rod

Postby tenandtwo » March 21st, 2012, 8:05 am

As much as I want to say, "whoo hoo! finders keepers" I know someone is missing this rod.
It is unique! Prove it is yours by describing the rod, make, model, wt, etc. So I can get it back to you.

Here is a photo of the cap of the rod tube, I think it says "GIVENS".
Anyone missing it or know who owns it? If not I just scored!

Hey Terry, did you get any responses?

About three years ago, I was fishing with Dr. Creek and Mt.Guru on a well known planting creek, we were being followed by a blacked out SUV and an occasional flyover helo, come to think of it, it was in the middle of harvest season.
Anyway, on the way out I ran across a brand new ocean going fishing rig, what the heck was that doing on the tiny creek and why would someone just leave it behind?
A HA, it must have been a prop to try and fool Mr. SUV, on the way out, or in, they just dumped it! That was my guess.

bump

Brians II - I e-mailed the guy, no response.

Flybob - If you are referring to busted head creek, no, the rod was not found there, another spot I frequent.

Well it has been a month and no takers so at this point I am cashing in my finders fee and taking the rod fishing. The offer still stands, claim it and I will return it. I did some research and It is not real valuable, but I think it was made sometime in the late 60s or early 70s and I want to cast a rod that is older than I am.

Here are 2 more photos. J. K. Givens on the cork.

Mr. Givens please come forward, or if not, Thank you.

Well, I took it fishing... This rod is a blast! Non stop little gills with lots of doubles today.

I should be so lucky down here in Texas.
Looking at this one I spy what looks to be a Fenwick trademark.
I hope the true owner comes forward.
