Super Raffle in the announcements section

Postby Pete » May 18th, 2012, 4:24 am

See the CFR/PHW Super Raffle topic posted above in the Announcements section for details.

Since there hasn't been much interest in the raffle, I thought I would remind everybody that there are only a few days left to have a shot at $1300 worth of custom fly fishing equipment. So far we have only about 70 tickets and 16 of those were tonight at work.

I have a crew of contract electricians who are strongly loyal to wounded vets and care deeply about breast cancer survivors. 8 guys bought 16 tickets and none of them fly fish. That plus they all, to a man, said if they win to auction off the package and donate that money to the charities. How cool is that?

10 DAYS LEFT. Around 70 tickets sold. A bit short of the goal by about 330.
Just a reminder of the raffle package http://www.renaissanceflyrods.com/blog.html

Instant update!!!!!! Looks like the pot may have just been sweetened a little. A gentleman on another forum just offered to throw in a custom silk line for the raffle package. :bananadance: :bananadance: :bananadance: Greg spread the word, by posting on some forums he frequents, and the gentleman stepped up in a big way.

Sorry to bother you all with more raffle posts, but I have to share this one. This gentleman and his wife bought more than several tickets between them. That puts the total to 104 tickets with 7 days left. Jeff also included a letter. His letter explains what this raffle and fly fishing are all about:

Pete, Gary and Greg,

Sounds like excellent causes you guys are contributing your efforts to! I wish you the best on getting to $2000.00 and exceeding it

I met Greg in the Sierra’s this past Mother’s Day Weekend and we got to fish together at Hot Creek on Saturday. Had a blast and caught quite a few fish that day!

My mother passed away last April from stomach cancer that ravished her within a short 9 months. She was healthy, energetic and an avid lover of the outdoors. I started going solo on a Mother’s Day weekend trip as a time to reflect on my mom in the peace and serenity of the Sierra’s. As you know, Fly fishing has a unique way of healing and rejuvenating a person and both Casting For Recovery and Project Healing Waters takes people who need the support and caring to aid in their recovery. We need to give back to our warriors who have sacrificed so much for our freedom.

I have enclosed a check for some tickets and just now my wife was asking what I was doing and she decided to match the amount I had contributed! She fly fishes also and loves the Sierras as much as I do. I hope this helps on getting to your goal.

Greg introduced me to FFA and I joined the day I got back. I am figuring out how to upload pictures and will be posting soon! My user name is Jeff Ike.

If I can help in any way please feel free to call me XXX-XXX-XXXX on any future endeavors.

Best regards,

Jeff E.

Thank you Jeff for both your letter and generous contribution. Welcome to the forum.

6 DAYS LEFT and you'll never have to listen to me talk about this again. Plus, it's the last few days to get in on a raffle that I guarantee won't happen again for many moons, if ever.

Added another 26 tickets to the total on Thursday. Being the total up to 130. We need to sell another 70 to be able to give both CFR & PHW each a check for $1000. 70 tickets with the various forums each having a couple hundred active members ought to be easy to finish off ;)

Thanks to those of you who have bought a shot (or several shots) at winning this benefit package. Every cent is going to two great charities.

Gary, Greg, Stuart & Pete
