This is Sunny and Warm Southern California?

Postby midger » December 16th, 2008, 12:58 pm

The storm is over, at least for a short time. Fish should be happy. We ended up with anywhere from 20-26 inches of snow--depending on which report you belief. At my place we got around 20 inches.

Here are a few shots. Who'd think this was sunny Southern California? Skiing should be great, and stream flows will benefit.

Here's a shot from when the storm was just starting. The Stellar Jay is waiting for its breakfast.

Image

This was from this morning after I blew our driveway, and a couple of shots looking off our back deck, the front street, and our side yard. The wall the left of the swingset is about 4 feet tall--you can just see the top of it protruding from the snow. Enjoy.

Awesome!
Fishing is the most wonderful thing I do in my life, barring some equally delightful unmentionables.

Dean,
Not brave, hungry. Notice it's sitting right next to the feed house. I swear, those things would carry a 5 pound bag of peanuts away one nut at a time, and make short order of it. They don't eat them all, rather, just hide them for later. My yard is full of nuts--now under a couple feet of snow.

Be careful what you ask for Jon--looks like you may be getting some this morning if the news is correct in their predictions.

We received another 2 inches this morning and it is currently on and off snowing. If we get the foot they are talking about today, it should prove interesting for those that have to get out. I made it down the hill yesterday to pick up some HDMI cables, so now I have movies, beer, popcorn and lots of firewood. I'm good to go.

Nice pics. The boys woke up this morning hoping to see snow on the ground as was predicted. Alas, the snow cover did not reach down to our elevation yet (2,300 ft). Nevertheless, a rain/snow mixture is predicted for the day, so there is still hope. Just in case, I'll get a fire started to keep us cozy since the kids are in school and the wife and I are home. Hmmm, what to do, what to do? 8-)

According to the internet it is snowing in Palmdale right now, or at least it was a half hour ago.
