Strategies for Stocked Trout

Anybody want me to pick them up a copy of this dvd? I had to laugh when I stopped by the Cabelas store up here in Boise and decided to walk through their flyfishing department for grins to see what they had. Low and behold, this dvd title jumped out at me. Really! I didn't know there were "strategies" developed for targeting stockers/pelletheads.

That's great Mike. I guess I shouldn't be surprised by that, but somehow I still am.
How do you tie the fly to your hooks without killing them with the thread? I keep cutting them in half.

Strategies for Stocked Trout

Postby Rasputinj » August 12th, 2012, 9:10 pm

I have been in a few streams where it is easier to catch wild trout than stocked ones. Maybe I need to tie some pellet flies. I have seen some good info from Aaron Jasper. They don't tend to be in as fast of water or as deep as wild will be in the same conditions. At some point that changed when they return to a more wild state.

I think I could use that DVD actually! Freshly stocked trout frustrate me so much I generally ignore them completely. The only thing I have had success with is a bright white/reflective mini clouser type fly. Apparently they see more baby trout in their diet in the holding ponds and runs than insects.

Sounds like it was an easy write... "LIVE BAIT, POWERBAIT, TROUT TEASER, KERN KANDY." Only caveat is, you gotta use treble hooks - they'll only hit a treble hook. :bananadance:

The DVD is approx 15 seconds long and contains secrets to catching stockers previously not known by the general fishing public.

I'll summarize:
Bait hook w/glittery multi colored silly putty
Throw hook in water
Sit in lawn chair
Open beer
Wait
