Think it will sell?

Postby midger » September 19th, 2012, 7:25 pm

I lost a lot of fish last Friday due to not carrying a net, plus the rocks were snotty with moss. What to do--incorporate a net onto the end of a wading staff. Here's what I did with a ski pole and a cheap net:

I tried it today and it worked very well for keeping me upright, and it definitely increased the number of fish I landed. The river I fished was full of orange spawning Kokanee, and I was even able to use it to net and release a kokanee swimming near my feet. They don't really hit a fly well and boy do those bad boys have a set of chompers when they get into their spawning colors.

Now if I can just figure out a way to easily carry the thing when I want to cast.

Good old American ingenuity. I don't know about selling but it will serve a dual practical purpose.

Just fish with it. Add some guides and a some reel seat hardware near the grip. BAM! = Ultrafast action, banty fly rod using the latest in aluminum alloy technology.

practical but a bit on the ugly side, not sure it would sell, but I am not a marketing person, so I really don't know much about selling stuff. Maybe a collapsible net would be more compact. Pretty ingenious and if it works for you awesome.

What if you used a collapsible hiking pole. That way you could compact the net setup and make it easier to move around with it when it isn't needed.

Now I think you're onto something. A net on a folding staff--I like it.

And I was only joking about selling it. This thing is Ugly, it does the job, but it is UGLY.
