I lost a lot of fish last Friday due to not carrying a net, plus the rocks were snotty with moss. What to do--incorporate a net onto the end of a wading staff. Here's what I did with a ski pole and a cheap net:
I tried it today and it worked very well for keeping me upright, and it definitely increased the number of fish I landed. The river I fished was full of orange spawning Kokanee, and I was even able to use it to net and release a kokanee swimming near my feet. They don't really hit a fly well and boy do those bad boys have a set of chompers when they get into their spawning colors.
Now if I can just figure out a way to easily carry the thing when I want to cast.
