2012 Lee Wulff award winner- Guy Jeans

The International Federation of Fly Fishers (FFF) recognizes selected individuals and organizations in our sport at their Annual Fly Fishing Fair, held in Spokane this year. One of those awards is the Lee Wulff Award. This Award recognizes a manufacturers or a retail business that demonstrates outstanding innovation in the fly fishing industry through their products and outstanding stewardship for water and fisheries resources. Some of the past winners are listed below:

As you can see, this is a very prestigious award.

It was announced that this year’s winner is our very own Guy Jeans – Kern River Fly Shop. Guy was not able to make the Spokane event, so the award was presented at the Southwest Council of FFF 1st annual Fly Fishing Faire held in Mammoth this past weekend. Phillip Greenlee, President of the FFF, presented the award to Guy.

Sounds like a pretty big deal to receive this award from the FFF if you're in the fly fishing industry. Haven't been up to the Kern for quite some time now, it would be great to see some changes for the better on that river.

I believe a very deserving award. Guy has done a lot to keep fly-fishing alive in the area. Something that in these times and in So Cal is no easy task. Never met the Guy but have in a roundabout way been able to reap the rewords of his efforts.
