Introductions

Postby hawkplayer32 » October 30th, 2012, 9:50 pm

Hey Guys,

I have been on the forum for a little over a month now so i figured it was time for a quick bio:

I grew up in Yorba Linda Ca, and gained my passion for fishing from trips to Big Bear Lake when I was a child. My father took me on a few overnight trips out of SD as well, and I caught my first yellowtail when I was about 12. Recently I have been really involved in local ocean fishing, but after taking a trip last June with my Brother and Father up to June Loop and learning how to fly fish from a local guide, my passion for fly fishing has really increased. I picked up some gear when I got back from that trip and have fished the local lakes and streams a handful of times trying to perfect my technique. I can honestly say that I now feel pretty comfortable using a 9' rod in pretty tight spots.

As for species of fish, I have caught pretty much every local freshwater species you can think of, including wild browns and rainbows from the local streams. I also really enjoy big game fishing and just recently caught my first yellow fin and dorado.

I am currently in school and by the end of next year will be finishing up my Law degree and taking the Bar Exam. As you might suspect law school is very demanding. Fishing is my way to escape the pressures of law school.

Other then that I am just your typical 25 year old guy.

Glad to be part of this fishing community.

Tony

Hey Tony, welcome to the board.
A great gathering of folks here, for sure.

Good luck with your schooling!

Welcome! It's a good group of folks here and you can learn a lot. Not sure it's all relevant, but it's a lot.

I look forward to your trip reports as you younguns are the ones who climb the cliffs to get to those 12000' lakes where the mythical 18 inch goldens live. Make sure to take your camera.

Tony, Welcome!!!!! Good to get an introduction like that. Me says you'll do fine as a lawyer. (Just don't become a slimeball lawyer...Well, you know, the ambulance chasin' kind! ;)

I have an inherent love for the salt too.

This is a GREAT source for learning to ff. There are some extremely knowledgeable and generous folks who can help you out. Just make sure to take advantage of it by attending gatherings and going fishing with these peeps.

Again, welcome aboard!
