Early Christmas GIft

Postby Dry Fly Rie » December 24th, 2012, 2:10 am

After spending most of yesterday and this morning working on my Master's classes, I decided I had earned a break. So we packed up the car with the diaper bag and set out for a nice drive following the morning rain. As luck would have it, we ended up at a spot that has been known to hold some willing fish, and a rigged-up rod had made its way into the trunk. :bananadance:

This was the first time taking my 13-month old son fishing, and I was just hoping to catch a fish and get a picture of him with it. The water was cold, high and murky after all of the rain we've had recently, and after 25 minutes without a bump, I was worried the plan wasn't going to materialize. Just when I was about ready to give in and call it a day, I felt a thump and hooked up with a little bass. I was nervous to see how my little fishing buddy would respond to seeing his first fish, but he wasn't shy at all.

We spent about 10 more minutes and were rewarded with my son's first bluegill. Once again, he was eager to touch this new thing that was presented to him.

Pictures taken, we packed it back up and hit the road for home, with my little fishing buddy babbling and talking non-stop in the back. No doubt he was working on telling his first fishing tale and adding a few inches to his catches.

That is too cool. He may not remember his first fishing trip, but you sure will. Here's to many more trips in both your futures. WOOHOO

Right on! That's just the break you needed from studying. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Oh, ahem, and regarding your ball cap, my condolences... Roll Tide.

Doesn't get much better than that! Thanks for sharing the pictures. Brings back memories for me.

Savor the times....my first born is six foot two and taught me to fly fish! You will treasure the photos and videos the rest of your life. Thanks for sharing that special moment!

And believe it or not, he'll remember that day. I got mine out at a young age but none of them ever really got the bug like I had, but they still enjoy going out with Pop or Grandpa. Congrats to you.

Very funny, but it's actually not a Notre Dame hat. The high school I work at (Del Norte) uses the same logo as the Irish, but considers it a "DN", instead of an "ND." Unfortunately, I don't like either team in the title game.
