Although not manufactured anymore , the series of Penn International Fly fishing reels were made to last. From left , the 1.5 , the 2.5 , and the 4 . Penn rated them as 6,7,8 - 8,9,10,and 10,12,14wt. reels
The top reels are the model after the famous wedding cake series ; very much one to collect and pricey. $1800 is the cheapest one I've seen , and most going for around $2500. Seamaster is another expensive ocean reel. The #4 is a 12 or 14wt. , the #2 maybe 8 or 9wt. The Fr8 and FR10 are from the 90's , and are an 8wt. and 10wt. reel. I also have an Fin-Nor Ahab 810 , not pictured. Fin-Nor's were quality made , USA reels with cork drags. The FR10 is loaded with Rio Outbound Short line , and is headed for Baja in October , along with the Penn 2.5. I don't know if I will get the Penn 4 ready in time , but I have a Abel 4 Big Game , and a Billy Pate Tarpon to use. I am taking along a Sage Largemouth Bass rod with the line that came with it loaded on a Bauer MX5 to use when we are close to Cerralvo Island.
Wow... I prefer hardy.. but for ocean, I think you got it!
We need a gear section... I have been snipped on two smoking deals in the past 3 days - if I get snipped again today, I might have to download the program

I sent you two messages on the Hardy. I have found that to be successful on Ebay , I offer the maximum up front , whatever I am willing to pay , say $450 for a particular reel Then as other bids come in , my position is inched up by Ebay. If at close ,if no one is willing to go past that limit , I win. There is a program to automatically bid higher at the last couple of minutes , but I don't have it.It took several attempts to get the Penn 4 . I actually get most of my reels from a number of web site dealers. Email me and I will sent you them.
The nice thing about the program is that if say your like me and make a last second bid... and ebay says your the highest bidder... with <1 second to go - the snipper will send in your max bid to snipe it.
It can save you money... like when I bid on an item and it says I have been out bid instantly, I know that someone has put in a max bid and walked away... so I keep bidding to my max amount... so I drive the price up hoping to get it.
with the sniper - ebay will tell me Im the highest bidder... till under a second to go... thus preventing the price drive.
I am curious what will happen when we all start using snippers....
you know you have been snipped when your bidding on an item.... lets say the current bid is 100.00
you enter a max bid of 120... with 1 second to go... you get the message "your the high bidder at a price of 101.01"
NICE!
you go check your myebay to pay for it... and someone won it for 120.01! exactly one penny over your max bid when you were the high bidder with less than a second to go.
VERY frustrating... I was already celebrating....
