Stream Fishing Tactics

Here's a video I found this morning while restlessly trying to figure out what to do today. Great for a refresher course on small streams.

How do you tie the fly to your hooks without killing them with the thread? I keep cutting them in half.

My kind of stuff. I wonder why he chose to rig the 8' rod (I also wonder what weight rod the 8'er is) with the BH nymphs and not the 9' rod? Whatever I guess. He's fishing and I'm at work, so I suck.

I'm still waiting for Davids Small Stream Tactics to come on line. I'd buy that in a minute.

I enjoyed the video and it helps with my learning curve. I used to fish streams like that in northern WI that emptied into Lake Superior. Unlike his basic thinking tho, I'd a 6'3wt. midge rod and a 7' 4wt. Guess I always liked the shorter rods better. I can see the advantages of a longer rod in keeping line off water and drifting nymphs but I still like the small rod small water concept.
