DFW encounter

Postby Baughb » December 5th, 2014, 9:34 am

Just got checked by a DFW Ranger on the lower yesterday. Glad to see it. Hooks checked, license checked, chit chat for a bit, all good. He walked a good ways to find me too.

Great news!

We get checked at least a couple of times every year, and they freely admit it's our out-of-state license plates. Their first gander is to make sure we're using out-of-state licenses, but then they go through their list. Nice, nice folks, and I'm proud to meet them.

Do they just check the hook(s) tied on your line, or go through your flyboxes? I pinch all barbs, fresh or saltwater, but you never know if you might have missed one.

John, when I got checked on the LO last winter they only checked the flies I was fishing, the ones on my line. Barbed flies are not illegal to own, just illegal to fish in certain places.
