I have cancelled this thread till I get the right information from the gal who gave me the rod. Sadly, I hadn't even taken the rod out of the tube before it was taken.

FWIW there's a 2wt SPL on ebay at the moment. It's not being sold by a flyfisherman unfortunately (the guy didn't understand my questions), but it appears to be in good condition, and is listed at a decent starting price.

Too funny. Sage didn't make a slt spl.
Ariel, You may have a hard time finding an 8 foot Sage SLT 4 piece. They also didn't make that according to my sage brochures. They made it in a 3 piece and 8'2' length, but most of the SLTs started at 3 weights, except for the small run of 3 piece rods that were in weights #0, #1, #2, #3.
The 4 piece rods started at 3 weights.
You might find a spl or TXL though, but they are 3 piece rods as well. The ZXL (SLT replacement) can be purchased in an 8 foot 2 weight, 4 piece, but the new model TXLs are also still 3 piece rods. Have you thought about making you a ZXL? You could probably build one cheaper than you'll get a used TXL or slt. I know you can buy the complete kit on eBay from Angler's Habitat in Idaho. Cost is around $350.

The grip on the SPL looks like it has very little to no wear on it

I was watching one a couple months ago much like this one. Good condition, no tube. It went for about $320.
