Lockdown Posts

Postby clee » March 20th, 2020, 5:15 pm

Alright boys and the few gals here (that never post anymore), most of us are in CA so we're all under the stay at home order. I say let's post pics, stories, or future plans here on this thread. I don't care if its a record breaking tarpon or a pic of a local dink trout or just a nice pic with the family outdoors. Post something that makes you smile. Lets keep this forum alive for one and get everyone posting again. You don't even have to give a detailed TR just a few words about the pic. I know some of you are ready to strangle your family so consider this therapy. I'll start from last summer's roadtrip from utah-wyoming-yellowstone-montana-idaho (a TR is forthcoming).

You’ve made it pretty simple to participate....there’s no excuses for everyone on this forum to not contribute!

I got out yesterday just to maintain some sanity. Farmed a couple of very nice browns due to rustiness, 6X, and being overly eager. Managed to conjure up some suckers to open my 2020 account.

But mostly, I’ve just been a platform upon which the pups have enjoyed sleeping. In their world, coronavirus is just about the best thing ever.

Good call Clee!
I think access (even to waters that we thought were over-fished and worthless) may become an issue. Parks are closing down, lakes are closing down etc. I'm a tad concerned but also this bodes well for the future because the fish will be able to rest a little or re-establish themselves. I've been doing weird things like organizing my fly-boxes and pretending to get back into shape. I may start a sort of "Quarantine Gallery" on my blog of past fishing successes to keep me stoked and simply because I feel the need to clean up those messy backup hard drives anyways.

Here are a few images from the Whanganui River in New Zealand several years ago. In 2017 the Whanganui was the first river in the world to gain legal personhood status so it can sue and own property.

Thanks for sharing your pics from the Taupo Region of the North Island....I fished the same river in 1988 and now want to go back badly after seeing your thread! That’s a great river to fish without having to hire a guide.

The locals kept giving me flies to use, but the go-to fly ended up being a simple weighted size 8 Hare’s Ear Nymph....all that way to fish a Hare’s Ear. Go figure!

Great pics and thanks for posting,

Jeff
