Drying off flies.

Drying off flies.

Postby flyster » August 2nd, 2020, 7:21 pm

I've been using wonder cloth for years to dry off flies. Wonder cloth works fine but my question is how good is amadou? I never tried amadou. Maybe due to the price difference? I need some input from the experts on this site.

I have an amadou patch. It works very well at de-sliming and drying flies, especially on CDC flies. Not sure it's worth the extra cost. The cost part is a tough question.

I use the Petitjean Amadou for CDC flies:

The C&F Design Ruby Cell for standard dries:

...and a rubberband for both:

I'm pretty satisfied with just squeezing my fly between a couple folds of my fishing shirt. ;)

I'm with you. That's my go-to method sprinkled with a few additional false casts and it usually does the trick.
