The extraction is simple, if you're not alone. Simply take a piece of 3X tippet (I like to use the heavy stuff) make a loop. Slid the loop under the upright eye and rest it against the bend of the hook. Push down on the eye of the hook until it is depressed against the skin of the offended area. (This will allow the point to follow the entry path. Simply give a sharp pull on the looped 3X in the direction of the entry and the hook will come right out. The best way to learn this is to practice on an orange or grapefruit.
Gives you an appreciation for what a fish goes through.
This really wasn't painful, but than I seem to have a nice high threshold for moderate pain.
