Newb intro

Postby slavetotheflyrod » April 9th, 2009, 7:46 am

'Nuther newb here. Did some lurking and didn't find any requirements for a proper intro, so I'll wing it. I'm in the Denver area and have been for 12 years now. Get out 2-3 times a week, warmwater, coldwater, brownwater, saltwater - doesn't matter to me. I'm a shameless * peddlar in constant search or ever raunchier fishporn. Here are my humble offerings.

Your going to have to join one of the free photo hosting sites, Flickr, Photobucket or some other free site.

What, no BP&P? J/k, no requirements here, welcome. Can't help you with the uploaded pictures, I think most of us use photobucket and link from there, but since it is possible to upload the pics here there must be a way to show them in the body of the message. I'm sure if someone else here does it they can let you know how. Welcome to the site. Jon

Thanks dudes. Quick recipe for the czech caddis: Body is caddis green ice dub, sm black wire rib, clear olive scudback, thorax is black ice dub, tie in the scudback, wire, wrap the green dubing forward, pull the scudback over top, rib it with the wire, tie off 2/3rds forward, trim WIRE ONLY, dub the black thorax, pull scudback over thorax and tie off, trim off, then dub a small balck head with the ice, tie it off and pick out some dubbing on the underside for gills/legs. A buddy of mine ties the same fly but uses a dubbing loop for the thorax and adds little black micro rubber legs. It looks sweet, but I dunno if it catches more fish or fisherman.

I think your caddis nymph is a personal fav. of a number of people on this forum.

Good luck!

I use
http://www.tinypic.com to upload my pictures.

use microsoft paint to resize then upload to tinypic (although the site has an automatic resize feature that I have not tried yet) - copy the code for message boards and paste in your post... easy as pie... speaking of pie! no, not here.

welcome aboard. See member's bio section in the General Fly fishing section to have a good read, and then add your own tale.

Also, for uploading pics, Photobucket/tinypic, whatever work GREAT... but its best to resize first as castaway mentioned (even if you set photobucket to resize for you, you are still uploading the full-sized image, so sizing first is MUCH faster.)

I like VSO Image Resizer. Its free for non-commercial use, and you can resize a whole group of photos in about 5 seconds total.

Fishing is the most wonderful thing I do in my life, barring some equally delightful unmentionables.

Yep, my favorite carp rod is my 8' 2pc 8wt boo. I fish carp 90% of the time on the river, and it's usually pretty close casting, 8' is just about perfect for the spots I fish.
