Yeah, Koa. Can you imagine the reel seat inserts you could make from that? :twisted: :lol:
How do you tie the fly to your hooks without killing them with the thread? I keep cutting them in half.

Wow, that is a real beauty, Ryan. Congrats on scoring that for such a deal too. Just kidding about carving it up for reel seat inserts. ;) Though that Koa looks like it would make nice ones. Such a warm color to it and the curly grain in fantastic.

Yeah. Could be. I was reading, a very little bit, about Koa. Seems there is another variety called Koai'a which is supposed to be noticably harder and more dense than Koa. Still, not owning a lathe or any of the tools it is not something I would tackle. But an interesting possibility nonetheless. I must say I love the look of spalted wood in a reel seat. Of course now this has entirely left the guitar realm…so uh, nice guitar. :D Looking forward to hearing it played. :D
