Seems "fishy"... What do you think?

Thought I'd check and see what you all thought about this one...

You think something like this could happen on accident???

It just seems like such an unlikely place for a bass to be foul hooked...

I fish this pond pretty often (at least once a week) and have only seen other people fish it a couple of times.

Looks as if the fish bass passed the hook, but not quite all the way.

that's a horrible thought...

I wasn't really sure what to do... I didn't know if removing it would cause more damage than it was worth? But, I pressed the barb down (you can kind of see in the 2nd shot that it was exposed) and slid it out. It seemed to come out pretty smoothly...

I didn't even consider that the fish may have tried to pass it... Thanks Benny!

WOW! That's a new one!

Pretty sad, really :(

Nice job of removing it!

This happens quite often. I have even caught trout who have passed treble hooks only to have them get stuck coming out the anal region. If your out on the water often enough you encounter all kinds of weird stuff.

This just happened on another board, where the guys dog swallowed a hook. The owner tried to pull the line out, but no good. He ended up taking the pooch to the vet who wanted an arm and a leg for surgery to remove the hook. To make the long story short, lots of guys from the forum gave him advise on feeding the dog certain foods and the dog (pug) shat the hook out.

In the last year my dog has passed one size 8 chernobyl ant and one size 10 muddler minnow...... Lab puppy. Previous to the flies she ate a big hunk of wood and some electrical romex wire and a few other things. I took her to the vet and it passed without incident so for the hooks I just waited it out and a few days later there it was.

My old dog did this too and after an emergency vet enema I decided I didnt want to pay for that anymore so I would take her outside and force a bottle of mineral oil down her. This happened many times over a 10 year period. About 4 hours later I would return outside with rubber boots and a firehose to clean up............. she always pulled thru and passed whatever was on the menu the night before.

so anyways yeah, I think the fish passed it. my 2 cents

Sheesh, you all have me worried about my girlfriend's dog getting into my flies. I'd never hear the end of it...

Thanks Flybob, I'm glad you liked it. Figured my buddies (and definitely the gf, haha) were probably getting tired of the fishing talk... needed an outlet
