Ritz Split Bamboo....

Postby Benny » May 7th, 2010, 8:46 am

My girlfriend was given a Ritz split cane bamboo fly rod this is the way the numbers read on it.

7'2 3 6/16 oz Specially Made For Norm Thompson By Pezon et Michel.

I seen the rod last night and it looks to be in really excellent condition, I don't think the old guy that gave it to her even fished it. Apparently he is giving her more stuff, he also gave her some old magazines from the 70's.

I'm going to shoot over to her house and steal the bamboo fly rod and the magazines, just kidding, well maybe. I'm going to go and take some photos of the rod and post it so you guys can all check it out. Would really like to know the value on this rod and perhaps some history if any on the rod maker.

Thanks
Benny

I'm no bamboo scholar, but my rod books show this as a French made rod from the 60s-70s. Their Loire model was valued at $335 (2/1 in 7'2") and their Super Parabolic model (2/2 tips in 7'2") was valued at $525. This was for excellent to mint rods and was taken from the book Antique and Collectible Fishing Rods Identification and Value Guide which was published in 1997.

Sounds like quite a nice gift.
